“Cheating Scandal” Kim Min-hee Spotted Doing Recycling, Hong Sang-soo Absent at Mother-in-Law’s Funeral
On January 21, entertainment journalist-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin-ho shared on his channel, “Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho” a video titled “Caught in the Act: Kim Min-hee Doing Recycling Alone… What Happened at Director Hong Sang-soo’s Mother-in-Law’s Funeral”. Lee Jin-ho revealed that sightings of Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo residing in an apartment in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province are pouring in.
Hanam is also where Kim Min-hee’s parents live.
Lee Jin-ho highlighted a specific sighting of Kim Min-hee doing recycling. Residents of the apartment complex reportedly noticed Kim Min-hee sorting recyclables alone late at night. This unexpected sight became a topic of conversation.
Lee Jin-ho said, “Recycling is usually something men handle, but Kim Min-hee has become a proactive and capable individual, even driving herself around.” Previously, when rumors of her pregnancy surfaced, media outlets also captured Kim Min-hee driving.
Lee Jin-ho also noted Hong Sang-soo’s changed appearance, commenting, “Director Hong used to be frequently seen with a hunched posture, but recently, his posture has improved, and he looks much younger. This has been a noticeable change since the affair scandal, which even acquaintances have found unusual.”
Additionally, Lee Jin-ho addressed rumors surrounding Hong Sang-soo’s absence at his mother-in-law’s funeral. Hong Sang-soo’s late mother-in-law, who reportedly covered his daughter’s overseas education expenses, passed away in December 2017.
Lee Jin-ho claimed, “The family didn’t expect Director Hong to attend. However, his wife was deeply upset by an incident involving a young woman in her 20s with short hair. This woman allegedly threw a cheap flower on the coffin and left quickly. Director Hong’s wife reportedly commented, ‘The only person capable of such behavior is Director Hong.’”
This claim, however, remains unverified.
Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo met in 2015 while working on the film “Right Now, Wrong Then”. In March 2017, during a press conference for “On the Beach at Night Alone”, they admitted to their affair, stating, “We love each other.” Recently, a media outlet reported that Kim Min-hee is six months pregnant and is expected to give birth this spring.
Meanwhile, Hong Sang-soo’s 33rd feature film “What Does That Nature Say to You” has been invited to the 75th Berlin International Film Festival next month. There is speculation about whether Kim Min-hee, who is reportedly pregnant, will accompany Director Hong to the festival.
